Nearly 150 years ago, Abraham Lincoln made his most famous speech. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, only 269 words long, certainly was nothing amazing from a literary standpoint. In fact, it wasn't even flawless from a grammatical standpoint.
Untypical of political speeches to this day, Honest Abe's brevity was a pleasant change in contrast to Edward Everett's two-hour speech which directly preceded Lincoln's two-minute speech. Although his speech was extremely short, it was well focused and drove his message home. In fact, it was so brief, that the event photographer was unable to get his picture before he was finished and only captured Lincoln's image as he descended from the speech platform.
lyrics
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war."
It's the Corduroy Phoenix flying up from the ashes,
With lyrics so heated, I’ll give ya hot flashes.
I may catch a fire but I’ll never burn out,
Youth will never tire; now that I don’t doubt.
My name may be Phoenix, but I’m not from Arizona,
Corduroy Phoenix ain’t some bullshit rap persona.
For this next line, I credit Dr. Seuss,
To explain it all now, simply is no use.
The places you’ll go, the things you will see,
The beat is Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote.
Like the Spanish knight, we maintain defiance,
Burly’s fighting windmills looking like giants!
"We can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have"
My pops owns a shop for the local tourist,
Yes, I’m the spawn of Cathy and Maurice,
One fine night-- they got to twerkin’,
Condom broke and abortion wasn’t working,
So now, here I stand 5 foot 6,
BQ and Dream team are my clicks,
Everything cool if your upper middle class,
Tan lines galore but I’m getting no ass.
I might have small hands and hairy hobbit feet,
But I got a sick soul that no one can beat.
Now comes the end and I’ve got to go,
Hop in the Subaru, going Turbo!
"We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. "
We come from Gburg, The Old Dominion!
Fuck everyone and they stupid ass opinion.
Forget that fact and I ask why you hating man?
Acting like you Hitler taking the Sudetenland!
Open your ears! Listen up and take heed!
It’s a musical feeeeeeeast where everyone can feed
On my lovin’ lyricism
Cuts a cataclysm
Rejects any schism
And embraces optimism
Consider pacifism
A weapon of the spirit
Embrace the situation
Workin’ hard not to fear it
With this, we create
A message of peace
It’s the wheel that squeaks
loudest gets the most grease.
